preannoucement of vaccine success et behaviors in the social sphere
Abstract
During the Covid-19 pandemic, pharmaceutical companies preannounced the efficacy of their vaccines before authorization. Combining signaling theory with the social amplification of risk framework (SARF), and drawing on 50 million French-language tweets, this talk looks at what happens to these preannouncements on Twitter: how people talk about side effects around them, which accounts and communities relay them, and how each community reframes the messages it shares.
